Job Title:  Director, Media

The primary function of this role is to support the Vice President and supervise the Manager and Specialist team members through the development and execution of Theatrical and Streaming media plans for The Walt Disney Studios. Delivering excellent plan stewardship by interacting with strategy, creative, digital, and other marketing team members is a key component of this position. Will work closely as the liaison with the Media agency, integrated planning, and creative management teams to ensure plan objectives are met, updated as direction and needs change, and executed.

The Director must possess flexibility and be willing to assume challenges and increased responsibility over time, as well as improve workflows/increase efficiency, etc across all processes. The candidate must have a strong desire to grow within the position, and learn more about Disney Studios Marketing key initiatives and businesses. 

Job Responsibilities: 

  • Collaborate with Media executives to develop and oversee strategic and holistic media campaigns for TWDS Theatrical and Streaming releases across all media types and distribution platforms
  • Mentor and supervise Manager and Specialist workload across all campaigns and act as an initial review and escalation point for deliverables being presented to the broader Media and Marketing teams
  • Lead agency communication by providing strategic oversight and prioritization across all media campaigns, including management of strategy implementation and budget controls
  • Collaborate closely with other departments within Marketing as well as within the broader Walt Disney Company to ensure our media strategy aligns with the comprehensive marketing campaign
  • Ensure media launch processes, custom media programs, synergy integrations, as well as paid digital campaigns are executed in partnership with Performance Marketing, Integrated Marketing and Synergy, Digital Marketing, Creative Finishing, and Media Agency
  • Partner with Marketing Science and Performance Marketing on auction media buys to collaborate on strategy and campaigns beats, as well as creative needs
  • Analyze campaign reporting and deliver creative optimization recommendations to Vice President  
  • Work directly with VP of Media to spearhead multi-title efforts inclusive of upfront inventory/creative funds, first-to-market partnerships, and new product opportunities from a strategic and cross-campaign learning perspective
  • Foster relationships with key partners to develop innovative campaigns that maximize buzz and exposure
  • Be a thought leader on media best practices, trends and industry developments and share learnings with cross functional teams

Basic Qualifications

  • 7+ years of experience in media planning, buying, and activation across multiple platforms with an emphasis in Digital
  • Exceptional multi-task skills; have the ability to work on many projects and campaign titles simultaneously
  • Excellent written and verbal communications and interpersonal skills to assure successful interactions with executives and business unit contacts
  • Detail oriented with superior organization skills
  • Able to prioritize and work well with others in a quickly changing environment
  • Reliable, flexible, and reachable whenever working remotely (if a hybrid position)
  • Team player with a positive outlook
  • Proficient in MS Office – specifically in Excel and PowerPoint (and/or Keynote)

Preferred Education

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Marketing or Communications

Preferred Qualifications

  • Relevant work experience in advertising/media or marketing
  • Theatrical and/or Streaming marketing experience
  • Advanced in MS Office – specifically in Excel and PowerPoint (and/or Keynote)
