Disney Parks, Experiences and Products (DPEP) is seeking a Manager of Technology who wants to join our shopDisney.com team, building a world-class experience for Guests of The Walt Disney Company. We are a fast-moving group tasked with delivering cross-platform integrated Disney experiences that will define the interactions of our Guests online and change the way our customers experience Disney eCommerce. Our group enjoys a high level of autonomy and exposure to all parts of Disney and all levels of the organization. We are Guest-obsessed and always strive to deliver the best Guest experience while driving the most value for Disney.


  • Build a diverse, capable, and efficient software development team through a combination of training, career development, recruiting, and process improvement.
  • Deliver against the goals of the Commerce team, specifically on the strategic priorities of the organization including execution against the operating plan objectives for the core commerce systems and operational metrics.
  • Oversee and manage engineering & developer deliverables of individual contributors. Included in this is oversight of features and functionality from a technical level as those features and functionality align with the business goals of the broader organization.
  • Ensure the ongoing training and development of direct reports. This includes active mentoring on technical and process-related engineering & development functions, as well as soft-skill development of their organization. It is expected that team member performance that fails to meet a satisfactory level be addressed via Human Resource processes, including written communication and Performance Improvement Plan (PIP) notifications.
  • Interact with senior management to keep abreast of function or unit objectives. Interact with direct reports and peers in management, customers, and vendors to interpret information and improve cross-functional processes and programs. Build and enhance key internal contacts.
  • Management of and technical oversight of external vendor relationships and deliverables. Responsibilities for this task include review of external vendor contracts (deliverables, timelines, technologies used, etc.) as well as checkpoint assessments of the vendor’s work quality from a technical perspective.
  • Monitor functions and deliverables within the team’s work product for efficiencies that align with the business goals of the group’s partners. This includes core vs. commodity discussions, but also recommending tooling for repetitive work being performed by the team that could be a self-service function.
  • Collaborate with Program and Product Management functions, with respect to features, roadmaps and budgets. Escalate potential problems to direct leadership if needed for any of these tracts.
  • Lead by example to design technical solutions and ensure that all software conforms to the highest quality standards.
  • Refine engineering practices and enact positive change within the team.
  • Identify, advocate, and build executive support for improvements to our Guest-facing features, our code and architectural practices, our internal processes, and code quality.
  • Champion your team's work across the organization.
  • Be responsible for the operations of the team's services to ensure stability and uptime.
  • Maintain focus on the experiences of our Guests with particular attention on Performance and Site Uptime.
  • Partner with Platform Leads, Product Managers, and Designers to develop applications focusing on eCommerce experiences.
  • Analyze the technical feasibility of product features and help to guide feature development and roadmap from a technical perspective.


  • 5+ years of technical experience, including 3+ years in an engineering leadership role.
  • 5+ years of full software development lifecycle experience
  • 5+ years of web development, internet technology experience
  • 5+ years of object oriented analysis, design, and development experience
  • Familiarity with Agile application development and de-coupled system concepts such as performance optimization, state management, caching, build optimization, etc.
  • Proven ability to communicate across multiple teams, to write documentation clearly, and to communicate technical topics with clarity.
  • Experience designing and developing server side applications running on server side and client side JavaScript, Java, and Cloud (SaaS/PaaS) deployment environments.
  • Experience with Content Management Systems (CMS) for authoring and management of content.
  • Strong experience with optimization and analysis of existing server side applications, including profiling and performance optimization / monitoring.
  • Experience with eCommerce applications and environments is a must


  • Experience with eCommerce SaaS platforms such as Salesforce Commerce Cloud, Magento or WebSphere Commerce. Salesforce Commerce Cloud is strongly preferred.
  • Experience working with large, distributed engineering organizations on projects that span multiple regions, teams, and business goals.
  • Experience designing or working with a shared codebase that is utilized by multiple regions to meet local business needs.
  • Experience building use case driven software with Agile Software Development and Test Driven Development methodologies
  • Knowledge/experience with AWS products and services.
  • Knowledge/experience with CI systems such as Jenkins, GitLab, or Github Actions.


  • BS/BA degree in Computer Science or related field, or equivalent work experience required


  • Master’s degree in Computer Science or equivalent work experience
