Video and Audio Producer, Podcast Programming

Are you passionate about the power of audio storytelling? Are you ambitious about expanding podcasts into video spaces? ABC Audio is looking for an experienced Video and Audio Producer to help build on the success of our growing podcast portfolio.

We’re seeking someone with a strong background in creating captivating long-form narratives, particularly in the true crime vertical. 

The ideal candidate has a knack for writing and story editing and superior audio production skills.  This person is highly creative and gets inspired by immersing themself in hours of tape to find the most evocative moments to hook the listener and keep them coming back for more.  This person also has a proven track record in fast-paced video production, ideally in a news environment.

Responsibilities

• Producing and editing videos for a selection of our podcast portfolio.

• Pitching new podcast series, seasons, and episodes.

• Researching and fact-checking.

• Writing scripts for weekly shows and limited series.

• Sourcing audio and video from various origins, including the vast archives of ABC News and ABC News Radio.

• Editing and mixing audio on Pro Tools and Audition

• Editing video.

• Share best practices for audio-first storytelling and delivery with ABC’s expert journalists.

• Working with partners in ABC’s rights and clearances, legal, and standards departments to vet and clear scripts and outside material.

• Working cross-functionally and collaboratively with other shows and platforms within ABC News.

Basic Qualifications

• Minimum five years of audio and/or video production experience at a professional podcast production house.

• Expert audio editing and sound mixing skills.

• Demonstrated video production and editing expertise.

• Journalism background, strong writing skills, and a keen interest in current events and true crime.

• Experience working with talent, including producing hosts in-studio.

• Sharp attention to detail and organizational skills, and the ability to work and communicate effectively under pressure.

• Thorough understanding of the podcast industry, techniques, and trends.

• Experience designing and executing workflows.

Required Education

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience.

The hiring range for this position in New York is $74,300 to $99,600 per year. The base pay actually offered will take into account internal equity and also may vary depending on the candidate’s geographic region, job related knowledge, skills, and experience among other factors. A bonus and/or long term incentive units may be provided as part of the compensation package, in addition to the full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits, dependent on the level and position offered.
